My Classic Car: Babe’s 1962 Pontiac Catalina

This car is all original. This was a one-owner, father-and-son car that I purchased in 2005.

The car had been in storage in a building too small for a boat this size and was dented on the front fender. On the other side of the car was a coal pile and when the engine was started, coal dust would be sucked into the engine compartment and the interior.

It took me two months to bring the car to showroom new condition.

The license plate is Antique and the number is 59BB which is the year I graduated from Brentwood High School and the year of the car is the year I graduated from Robert Morris Junior College.

If you think the story above is something you’d hear spun at a barber shop, well, that’s what the previous owners did for a living.

  1. What an inspiration! I’m getting prepared to do a restoration job on my 1963 convertible my grand father and I restored 25 years ago. It’s a large undertaking but seeing this gorgeous specimen has given me incredible motivation! Thank you
