Heritage Museums & Gardens in Sandwich, Massachusetts, continues its Under the Hood lecture series Thursday with Evan Ide, a senior specialist at Bonhams, on hand from 6 to 7:30 p.m. to discuss the history of Bugatti. The program includes the special display of a pair of Bugattis.
Ide is an award-winning restorer, an author, automotive historian and a collector who will talk about Ettore Bugatti’s family history in all forms of art as well as the history of the automobile company he founded and its long success in motorsports.
Under the Hood attendees will be given the exclusive opportunity to see two Bugattis rarely on public view, including Ide’s own.
Earlier in the day, from 11 a.m. until noon, museum curator Jennifer Madden will lead a tour of the Heritage’s antique-auto collection storage facilities.
Additional Under the Hood sessions are scheduled for August 15 and 20. On September 3, David McGraw, president of Classic Coachworks on Cape Cod, will be at the museum to discuss adventures in car collecting, his work with other collectors and various approaches to restoration and its impact on a classic vehicle’s value.
