Classic Car Auctions, Britain’s newest classic car auction house, staged its first sale earlier this week. It posted $610,000 in sales with a 65 percent sell-through rate at an event held at the Silverstone racing circuit, where the cars were displayed in the Formula One racing garages.
“It’s been fantastic to see so many enthusiasts and buyers come and visit us for what will hopefully be the first of many (sales),” Joe Watts, CCA auction manager, said in a news release.
The most paid for a car at the auction was $46,887 for a 2001 Porsche 911 Turbo. (Prices include buyer’s premium.)
Among the auction highlights was the first car sold — a 1951 Land Rover Series 1 — for $7,680; a 2001 Morgan Aero 8 for $41,228; a 1969 Jaguar 4.2 MK2 for $29,750; a 1993 BMW M5 Nurburgring Edition for $20,371.
Even the auction house labeled as a bargain a 1995 Mercedes-Benz S500 coupe that brought only $4,042.
CCA plans its next auction April 21, again at Silverstone.
