Bonhams Motoring Department is expanding its auction calendar for 2017 with a new event scheduled for October 28 in conjunction with the Auto e Moto d’Epoca, which Bonhams says is the most widely attended classic car show in Italy.
“The Bonhams motoring team is very active on continental Europe, whether it be regular sales such as Paris, Spa, Zoute, Chantilly, Monaco, or special one-off sales such as the Frederiksen Collection in Denmark,” Rupert Banner, head of motoring for Bonhams auctions, said in a news release. “The time is right to expand our calendar by presenting a sale in Italy at the prestigious Auto e Moto d’Epoca.”
Bonhams notes that since its launch in 1983, Auto e Moto d’Epoca, which is held in Padua, near Venice, “has become known as the quintessential Italian event for motoring fanatics.”
In 2016, the show drew a record 90,000 visitors to see 4,500 vehicles on display.
No consignments for the auction have been announced. Bonhams next sale is June 30 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in England, to be followed by its annual Quail Motorsports Gathering auction August 18 in Carmel, California.
It then has sales September 2 at the Beulieu Autojumble, September 9 at the Goodwood Revival, September 10 at the Chantilly Arts & Elegance event in France and October 2 at the Simeone Auto Museum in Philadelphia before going to Italy.
