BMW, which celebrates its centennial in 2016, will be the featured marque at the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion next August, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca announced Monday. The track also said it will begin accepting registrations from vintage racing car owners for the 550 available places on the starting grids on October 26.
Car owners have until January 31, 2016, to secure a place in the paddock. Then, a seven-person governing committee considers each car’s authenticity, racing provenance and the historical accuracy of its mechanical components and livery before approving each entry.
“The selection process is a thrilling, yet arduous, job for the committee but the end result is a field that receives international attention,” Gill Campbell, chief executive and general manager of the raceway said in a news release.
