In the spring of 2014 I decided that it was time for a classic car. It had to be American Motors.

It was an easy decision. — 1965 Ambassador convertible. Nothing else would do.

Why? I started with AMC as a dealership mechanic in 1964. In 1968 I took a service manager position. Yes, AMC. In 1971 I took a parts manager position. Yes, AMC. Stayed in AMC  parts management to the end of AMC. Continue reading

My dad bought this car in 1968 for $200 and drove it home sitting on a 5-gallon bucket for a seat.

He changed the engine to a 383 V8 and got it running and then I drove it to high school in 1975, my senior year.

After that we were going to do more work to it but life got in the way. My dad passed in 1992 and the car had been sitting for years. Continue reading

I bought this car from my neighbor in 1972 as I saw her drive home in a new 1973 Corvette with automatic transmission. She got the 1964 Corvette as a high school graduation present and very rarely drove it as she did not enjoy a four-speed manual transmission. Continue reading

This historic vehicle was purchased at a Barrett-Jackson Auction, where it was the Hagerty Fantasy Car Bid of the Day. Prior to purchase it was a one-family car. given to Whitney J. Young, Jr., civil rights leader and adviser to several presidents by the Ford Motor Company. Continue reading

Home at last after 47 years, the history of my 1969 Camaro Z28:

The ’69 Camaro Z28 was ordered by my then-girlfriend, who later became my wife, and the car came along with the deal.

The marriage situation changed a long time ago, but now the car has returned. Continue reading

My niece got her first car at 16, a used Pontiac Firebird that her dad bought for her birthday. Shortly after on a first trip to the city to see friends, her boyfriend stole the keys and took his buds for a ride. Long story short, end of car, broke up with boyfriend.

With insurance money and more she bought her second used Firebird, a 1980 and keep it until marriage and a daughter came along. Continue reading

This car is all original. This was a one-owner, father-and-son car that I purchased in 2005.

The car had been in storage in a building too small for a boat this size and was dented on the front fender. On the other side of the car was a coal pile and when the engine was started, coal dust would be sucked into the engine compartment and the interior. Continue reading
