Silverstone Auctions’ second Salon Prive sale produced $7.69 million in sales, led by the $1.3845 million paid for a 1968 Aston Martin DB6 Vantage Volante (prices include buyer’s premium).
“The Salon Prive sale is one of our headline sales of the year,” Nick Whale, managing director of Silverstone Auctions, said in a news release after the auction.
“The atmosphere was electric – with telephone and online bidders competing with buyers in the Garden Room marquee at Blenheim Palace.”
The ’68 Aston Martin DB6 Vantage Volante was one of 29 built and was offered in original condition.
Other top sales (including buyer’s premiums) included $485,580 for a 2010 Porsche 911 997 GT2 RS; $284,590 for a 1989 Lamborghini Diablo SV; $281,250 for a 2011 Porsche 997 GT3 RS 4.0; $250,943 for a 1986 911 SuperSport with only 743 kilometers on its odometer; and $210,750 for a 1989 Ferrari 328 GTS with only 1,600 miles traveled since new.
The Porsche results came as Silverstone readies its next auction, The Porsche Sale, to be held October 25 in conjunction with the Porsche Club GB gathering.
