Artcurial Motorcars’ 10th annual Automobiles sur les Champs auction in Paris featured 75 collector vehicles and $4.2 million in sales, led by a 1964 Aston Martin DB5 that sold for $727,575 (including buyer’s fees).
“The end of this 10th edition of the sale was an emotional moment,” Matthiew Lamoure, managing director of Artcurial Motorcars, said in a news release. “With iconic Ferrari, rare Lotus models, competition cars such as the incredible Hommell Vaillante, and the indispensable barn find, this was a perfect illustration of Articural Motors expertise.
“It was wonderful to see longstanding clients and enthusiasts come together at this anniversary sale to view and buy special models, all presented with attractive estimates.”
1964 Aston Martin DB5 sold for $727,575The cars were featured on the Champs-Elysees before two days of preview viewing.
The top sales were the DB5, a 1964 Alpine M64 Berlinette for $402,755, a 1930 Bugatti Type 40 Speciale for $298,878, a 1976 Porsche Carrera 3.0L for $246,885 and a 1967 Ferrari 300 GT 2+2 for $220,834.
The Alpine is headed to the U.S., Artcurial said.
A 1962 Jaguar E-type 3.8-liter coupe went to its third owner for double its pre-sale estimate, selling for $116,957.
The 1999 Hommell Vaillante “Grand Defi,” a car inspired by comic book artist Jean Graton’s work, sold for $104,900, double its pre-auction estimate.
A barn-found 1948 Jaguar Mk IV cabriolet sold for $41,529, also doubling its pre-sale expectations.
Other highlights, according to the auction house, included a 1992 Lancia Delta Evo I Martini HF that brought $114,341.
Two former Italian police cars that had been featured in movies and television drew considerable attention, with the 1981 Alfa Romeo Alfetta selling for $14,279 and the 1969 Alfa Romeo Giulia TL for $23,435.
Artcurial Motorcars’ next sale is February 10 during Retromobile.
