Paris-based Artcurial Motorcars launches its biennial Monaco collector car sale July 2 at the Grimaldi Forum in Monte Carlo, where nearly 25 percent of the 123-vehicle docket will be offered at no reserve.<‘p>
“Monaco 2017 by Artcurial Motorcars will appeal to all collectors/car enthusiasts looking for something special,” managing director Matthieu Lamoure promised in a pre-sale news release. “All the cars discovered by our team, whether race cars, rare examples or popular machines, have a story that we look forward to sharing with you at this Monegasque weekend.”
Those cars include million-dollar Ferraris, a Porsche with racing history and, since this is Monaco, cars with celebrity provenance.
Jean Paul Belmondo owned this Ferrari“The sale will reflect the personality of the celebrated venue, offering a heady mix of elegance, rarity, celebrity and sport,” Artcurial added in its news release.
Leading the docket are a 1962 Ferrari 250 GT cabriolet Series II Pininfarina and a well-raced 1974 Porsche Carrera RSR 3L, each of them valued at $1.5 million to $1.9 million, and a 1998 Ferrari F355 GTS that formerly was owned by actor Jean Paul Belmondo.
Other celebrity-owned cars include a 1965 Mercedes-Benz 300SE coupe formerly owned by the King or Jordan and a 1991 Porsche 928 GT formerly owned by French entertainer Johnny Hallyday.
The docket also includes a 1965 Maserati Mistral 3700 Spyder, a 2009 Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport and a 1987 Porsche 959 Komfort.
