The Barrett-Jackson Northeast auction in Connecticut is in its second year and offers a docket of more than 600 cars. I have picked 6 very different cars from among them that I would gladly raise my hand for and like to have in my garage.
The best part about this list is that, with one exception, all these picks are what I would consider to be on the more affordable side of the hobby and any would make a good car for the first-time collector.
| 1979 Alfa Romeo Alfetta Sprint Veloce The Alfetta is a largely forgotten car, due in part to the later GTV 6 that utilized the same body and chassis but also due to the fact that most rusted away and returned to the earth. This is by far the nicest Alfetta I have ever laid eyes on. It is an all-original car with fantastic original paint, no rust anywhere, and it even has these awesome-looking optional Campagnolo alloy wheels. A true gem of the same and a car that I am betting sells for short money. |  |
| 1987 Chevrolet Camaro IROC Z-28 Another all original and very well preserved car that is extremely difficult to find in such condition. This IROC has covered only 22,169 miles from new and is perfect in every way. The IROC is a true 1980s performance car and people are really starting to seek nice examples. It comes with all its history and documentation, including its original window sticker. Another great car for what is likely to be an affordable price. | 1986 Jeep Grand Wagoneer The Wagoneer is becoming a sought-after classic and, like the Alfa above, is difficult to find in nice shape due to their tendency to rust. These cars also were driven year round and many lived very rough lives. This is the nicest all original Wagoner I have seen, with very nice original paint and a perfect interior. With a total of 89,000 documented-original miles and an Arizona car since new, this is another car to buy, enjoy, and watch as it increases in value. |  |
| 1947 Dodge Power Wagon When I think of a truck, this is what I think about. This Power Wagon (possibly the best truck model name ever by the way) is a fantastic restoration and includes an optional front-mounted PTO winch. A fantastic restoration of the first civilian 4X4 truck model in the U.S. and a truck that will continue to grow in value. This truck was just fantastic. |  |
| 1961 Jaguar E-type FHC I honestly do not think that there is a more stunning post-war sports car in the world than an early Series 1 E-type coupe. This car is a tremendous example of a flat floor Fixed Head Coupe and has won at numerous top tier concours events, including The Concours of the Americas and Hilton Head. If you are looking for a completely done first year E-type coupe, then this is your car. Not inexpensive but a perfect example. |  |
| 1970 Chevrolet Corvette LT1 I have a serious love affair with the early C3 Corvette and the LT1 is in my opinion the best driver’s car of the entire run. This car is said to be a matching numbers example with many hard to find factory options including power windows, tilt-telescopic steering wheel, Rally wheels (also called sombrero wheels) and best of all is NCRS certified. This means that you can trust the car and can find out all the details about it from the Corvette restoration society folks who are on site at the auction. These cars are already starting to take off, so if you have always wanted a C3 Corvette, the time to buy one is now. |  |
