RM Sotheby’s celebrates its 15th year at Amelia Island and the cars on display are some of the nicest we have seen at this sale. Not only are top-tier cars represented but there are a number of more affordable cars on offer, making many of the lots a bit more attainable to a larger number of people.
Here are the 6 cars that I would most like to make mine during the bidding Saturday:
 | 1970 Aston Martin DB6 Vantage Lot 116 It I could sell every classic car and motorcycle I own and buy this amazing DB6 I would do so in a minute and never need another classic car. This DB6 has had a single owner from new who picked the car up in England and then after driving it all over the country had it shipped home to Canada. The car is completely original except for a exquisite paint respray in the cars original color. My favorite car of all the cars at Amelia this weekend by far. |
 | 1970 Nissan Fairlady Z 432 Lot 175 This car is likely to be the next super high dollar Japanese sports car. While it may look like a 240Z it is quite a lot more than that. The 432 features the twin-cam 2-liter engine made famous by the legendary GTR and adds a 5-speed gearbox and 4-wheel disk brakes that were missing from the US-spec 240Z. There are very limited production cars and are very rare in the US. This is the first example ever offered at a auction in the United States. They are somewhat affordable now but will not stay that way. |
 | 1963 Shelby 289 Cobra Lot 178 CSX 2147 is exactly the kind of cobra we like best. Small block, slab side and blue. The car is a matching-numbers example, formerly owned by Ford Special Projects director Jacques Passino. It has an unbroken ownership history since new and is very well presented. Definitely the Cobra I would love to have parked in my garage. |
 | 1966 Corvette 327/300 Sting Ray convertible Lot 177 I have always loved the Peter Brock-designed C2 Corvette and this example, finished in this striking 1-year only Mosport Green color, really caught my eye. Further research let me know that this C2 is a Bloomington Gold Blue Ribbon winner, further reinforcing to me that the beauty of the car is just not skin deep. Basically I just like it, a lot! |
 | 1959 MGA Twin Cam Lot 207 I have always like the MGA and the rarest of all MGAs is the Twin Cam. This old English white with red interior has been well restored with good panel fit. Compared to other rare classic cars of the era, it is still a good value and a properly fast and fun car to drive. |
 | 1973 Porsche Carrera RS Lot 182 The Carrera RS is the ultimate 9111 incarnation of that mythic model and the top of the heap for Porsche road car collectors. This example is finished in a rare factory Arena Red color, as ordered when new, and is a pristine example. This is the 911 that will always be valuable and is likely to avoid any future downturn in the Porsche market. I have owned one of these cars in the past and loved every minute behind the wheel. They are expensive now, selling for more than a million dollars, but will only be more expensive later. |
