Auctions America has come a long way since RM Sotheby’s launched the company in 2010 from the ashes of the Kruse auction company. We attended the first sale in 2010 and it was a good new auction company sale but the cars of that first sale bear no resemblance to the offerings at Auctions America’s California sale this weekend in Santa Monica.
Many of the top lots at this sale would easily be at home at the parent company’s Monterey sale next month. Some of these lots include a Ferrari Enzo, a 1960 300SL roadster and even a 1938 Mercedes-Benz 540K.
All of those cars are amazing, but happily Auctions America still has cars at every level of the hobby, and the cars I would most like to have in my garage are a bit more affordable and easier to attain for the average collector.
