While a 1971 Jaguar E-type Series II 2+2 topped the sales chart, two vehicles with celebrity ties were the highlights of Classic Car Auctions Christmas sale last weekend at the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre near Leamington Spa, England.
The E-type went for £46,750 ($70,158) at an auction that had a 75 percent sell-through rate and did $1.155 million in total sales.
The featured celebrity cars were a 1967 Ford Mustang convertible owned by actor Charle Dance, who was at the auction and saw his car go for £33,550 ($50,349), and a 2007 Range Rover Sport custom-built for professional athlete David Beckham and sold for £31,350 ($47,047).
The Dance and Beckham cars sold for well more than their pre-auction estimated values, as did a 1971 Porsche 911T, a 1995 Ferrari 348 Spider, and even a 1975 Citroen DS23 Pallas.
CCA’s next sale, also at its Warwickshire Exhibition Centre home grounds, is March 19, 2016. The company specializes in vehicles in the £5,000 to £50,000 ($7,500 to $75,000) price range.
