British auction house Coys termed “massive” the 8 million euros ($8.59 million) in sales at its annual auction at the Techno-Classica classic car show in Essen, Germany.
“Both the market in general and ourselves were truly hearted to the great response… with all but a handful of cars selling to a large array of international buyers,” Coys managing partner Chris Routledge said in a news release after the auction.
A 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL gullwing coupe brought nearly $1.17 million at the sale while a 1988 Porsche 959 sold for more than $971,000 and a 1938 BMW 328 roadster sold for just shy of $600,000.
Coys next sale is May 16 at the Ascot Racecourse in England.
