Just in time for Christmas, the Pick of the Week is an antique toy truck that would look great under the tree. A really big tree.

Because this toy is a full-size 1925 Moreland Model RR6 fuel-delivery truck emblazoned with classic lion-head Gilmore Gasoline signage and which the seller says, “remains in remarkable condition.” Really, this truck advertised on ClassicCars.com looks like a grown-up version of the metal models kids pushed around the floor on Christmas morning way back when.

The fuel-delivery truck was built by the Moreland Truck Company in Los Angeles and was originally configured to deliver home heating oil, says the seller in Santa Ynez, California. It was later changed over to deliver kerosene to homes and businesses, at which time “the classic metered pump on the side of the rig” was added. Apparently, the Gilmore signs were a more-recent addition.

The truck spent some time in a museum in Washington State, after which it was purchased by two successive collectors “in the Santa Barbara County wine county in a dry environment.” The truck was always garaged, the seller states, and was recently treated to a set of tires and tubes, rebuilt brake cylinders and new fluids.

“The six-cylinder Continental engine runs great and the truck cruises to 35 mph,” the seller writes in the ad description. “The data plate states that if you drove the vehicle over 35 mph, you would void your warranty!”

The Moreland is advertised at $16,500 and would make a fabulous gift for that gearhead in your life who already has everything else. Hard to buy for? Nonsense.

“Classic trucks have exploded in collectability and value in the last several years,” the seller says. “This example is outstanding and the model is one to keep…for a collection, shows, as an investment, parades or as an advertising icon for a business.”
