July 14 has been declared Collector Car Appreciation Day for 2017, the Specialty Equipment Market Association has announced. Since 2010, a day in July has been selected and supported by a U.S. Senate resolution to recognize that the “collection and restoration of historic and classic cars is an important part of preserving the technical achievements and cultural heritage of the United States.”

SEMA’s hope for the day is to celebrate those achievements and heritage with a series of locally organized car shows, cruises and other auto-oriented events.

To help promote those events, SEMA has a special calendar set up on the SEMA Action Network website, where dozens of such events already are listed for appreciation day and the days that follow that Friday date in mid-July.

And SEMA notes that you don’t have to be a veteran car-show organizer to stage such an event, and offers a video (below) as proof of how you build it and they will come, and it will grow through the years.
