On the final day of the GAA Classic Cars sale at Greensboro, South Carolina, a restored 1967 Shelby GT500 brought the highest hammer price of the sale — $122,500.
GAA Classic Cars reported a 65 percent sell-through rate for the three-day auction but did not report an overall sales total.
According to the catalog, the Shelby was well documented and the sale included photos of the restoration as well as a Shelby American Automobile Club Registry report and a Marti Report.
One other car also sold for six figures — a 1961 Mercedes-Benz 190SL went for $110,000. The Mercedes has also been restored and was sold with a factory hard top.
Also on the docket were cars from the collection of George Shinn, former National Basketball Association team owner. The top sale in his collection was a 1957 Chevrolet resto-mod for $66,000.
